Stories must be true and reflect a Korean-American experience. Submissions may be about the extraordinary or the ordinary, tragic or funny, heavy or light, but must in some way involve being Korean American. The story must be true as remembered. Judging will be based on the quality of the content and the presentation.

Join KAC-Chicago at Lincoln Park Community Shelter (LPCS) as we prepare hot lunch meals every month on the 4th Saturday!

We create our own menu, shop for the food and prepare it at the shelter for 30+ people living at the shelter. It's a great way to give back to the community and helps LPCS run an effective shelter through meals. LPCS helps those get back on their feet by providing programs such as mentoring, computer skills, interviewing and more, while providing them with a place to sleep and meals to eat.

Whether you are into cycling, biking or have never gone to a class before, join the Korean American Coalition of Chicago (KACC) at Spynergy for a Cycle Class event on Saturday, May 18th!

Attendees will enjoy a fun 50 minute cycle class with others involved with KACC while helping support our programs, including LPCS Monthly Soup Kitchens where we buy ingredients for the meals prepared and served to address the challenges of homelessness in the Chicago-land area.

Fee: $30 includes one bike registration and a refreshing beer after class to cool you down!

On May 18, 2018, join KACC for the annual Korean Senior's Day event. We will serve over 600 participants and 500 of them will be seniors. Learn more about Hanul at www.hanulusa.org.

Volunteering duties include greeting the seniors, guiding the seniors in the right direction, and more. Free delicious Korean lunch & t-shirts will be provided! To volunteer, please email Charlene Choi at cchoi (at) hanulusa (dot) org.

All *new* volunteers must attend a pre-event training on either:
- May 11th from 2-4pm, 1166 S. Elmhurst Rd, Mount Prospect
- May 17th from 4-6pm, 3436 W. Wilson Ave. Chicago

Why volunteer? Our seniors face linguistic, cultural and economic barriers and often suffer from social isolation and depression in their everyday life away from their home country. Each year, the festival invites over 600 Korean seniors, their families and volunteers to the auditorium of Amundsen High School for a day of recognition and celebration. The highlight of the event is the art performances of local and international artists and our senior artists in our Cultural Art Program. The event is primarily sponsored by donations and contributions from local Korean business owners.

Come out for a unique bowling experience where you can help support our KACC Engage Serve Lead initiatives, and meet new people while enjoying some friendly competition!

If you're competitive, you have the opportunity to take home some new hardware to add to your collection. If you're not competitive, don't worry because you'll have the opportunity to meet new people and network! Don't miss out on this great event for all skill levels!
